Rune is a founding partner at Avanto Capital and has shaped the firm’s culture since founding Avanto in 2015: pragmatic,direct, and accountable.

He started on the buy-side at Shell’s pension fund inNorway—first as a portfolio manager, later as CEO at the age of 29—where the job isn’t to tell a good story, but to protect and compound capital through real market cycles. That background hardwires a basic standard: decisions must survive reality, not just look good in a meeting.

Rune later moved into investment banking across arange of mandates, before focusing after 2008 on private equity secondaries—one of the few corners of investing where network, structure, and reliability matter more than headlines. It’s work that rewards clear thinking, independentjudgment, and the willingness to act when others hesitate.

At Avanto, Rune brings that same mindset to every decision: open eyes, open ears, and an open mind—free from dogma, and focused on what actually compounds.

Lars lærte tidlig gode investeringsvaner. Allerede som 27-åring var han Analysesjef i Norcap, og det var der han lærte å tenke uavhengig om hva som faktisk virker. Etter over ti år med allokeringsbeslutninger tok han et steg tilbake i 2020, bare for å innse at han savnet faget. Han kom til Avanto i 2022 og forvalter hedgefondet Avanto Right Tail (ART). Han er allergisk mot konsensustenkning og leter etter asymmetriske muligheter i markedet, der han ikke lar seg fange av narrativer. Lars investerer egne penger i hvert fond Avanto forvalter.

Hugo brings an operational, risk-aware perspective to Avanto. He is Managing Director of Samarbeid for Sikkerhet, an industry organization for Norwegian oil and gas, and previously served as HSSE Director at BP. With a background as a reservoir engineer, he combines first-principles thinking with a practical approach to assessing risk. Hugo is also an active investor in several early-stage companies.
